What is BICSI Beyond?

BICSI Beyond is an event designed to focus on innovation, collaboration, and education within the ICT industry, covering the latest trends and technologies.

Live Demonstrations and Technical Discussions at Booth 119

At booth 119, Fiber Optic Center will showcase product demonstrations including the AFL FSM-90S+ Fusion Splicer, focusing on field considerations for terminating and splicing. The FOC Technical Team will also hold several discussions at the booth, highlighting fiber's crucial role in both datacom current advancements and telecom networks' physical layer for over forty years.

Fusion Splicer Demonstration

Visit Kevin Mooney at booth 119, for the AFL FSM-90S+ Fusion Splicer demonstration and best practices for solving common problems in the field. Demo includes how the redesigned work tray, cooling tray, and optional cable clamp make the 90S+ kit more versatile in adapting to varying work conditions and environments and how to improve splice losses.  View the Active Blade Management between the splicer and cleaver, and other splicing features that reduce poor splice installations or repairs.

Discussion Topics Include:

  • How attention to field installations cleanliness ensures optimal signal transmission and damage prevention
  • Knowing cable minimum bend radius to avoid increased attenuation and broken fibers
  • Understanding the cable standards and specifications of your installation and environment
  • Optimizing the Fiber Optic Blowing Installation Procedure
  • Testing connections after installation to ensure proper signal transmission and connectivity.
  • MPO Connectors and proper fiber position explained
  • The Ferrule, the most important component of a fiberoptic Connector, and the different types
  • Field Termination of a standard epoxy and polish ferrule discussion
  • Proper tool selection for fiber cable prep and termination in the field

The discussion topics and expert consultations will align closely with specific product demonstrations showcasing the best practices step by step at Booth 119. Cable end preparation can vary significantly depending on the cable type and application.Indoor and outdoor cables vary significantly based on the environment, each with its own considerations and requirements. These differences will be highlighted through our unique technical expertise in partnership with in-person equipment demonstrations.
