SN Connector Assembly

building SN connectors requires
specific fixturing and tooling

Next generation architectures are driving the need for optical connectivity solutions requiring greater fiber density. The SN connector is one of the VSFF solutions to increase density for duplex connections.

VIEW fixturing and tooling list

The SN connector makes use of the small 1.25mm ferrule used in the popular and proven LC connector, but now packs both inside a single body to significantly shrink the size of the connector. The higher density also makes it possible to fit 4 SN connectors in the size of a transceiver with 4 parallel duplex lanes. This is the same transceiver design used for multifiber connectors. The SN, to allow more efficient and scalable network deployment, is designed with a uniboot that allows the handling of 4 connectors like one.

The SN requires the same equipment as other single fiber connectors. But just like every other connector, the SN requires its own tooling and equipment fixturing for termination and assembly. Keep in mind that APC (angle) versions require different fixturing from UPC versions.
